So it's been almost three weeks since posting a picture a day and I've been thinking recently that I need to add some thoughts to the blog, because it's very much an autobiopic thing for me and I think that a few months down the line, I'll like to look back and read some of my own thoughts on the pictures.
So it's interesting that when Lisa first told me about it, I wanted to do it, but then thought, I'm never going to have the time to do ONE PICTURE A DAY! I mean, how long would that suck from my day? Especially being the somewhat of a perfectionist that I try to be in any work that I do. (yes, I'm being serious, actually). But after drinking another beer and gobbling up some Rotel, I decided to do it, even though it was about a week in to January. I didn't really have any pictures to post, so I used some pictures that I'd taken previously until I was "caught up".
Then I wasn't really sure what I'd take pictures of. And I tried out like five Blogger templates before choosing my current one. Something about the black background really brings out the pictures, but something still wasn't right. The pictures didn't really stand out. Then Susan showed me how to add the white trim around the picture and that's made a huge difference.
And I wanted to keep a somewhat consistent format, so I decided on 5" x 7" ratio and that seems to be working fine for now.
One of the surprising things is that I thought it would be difficult to find something to take a picture of, but it's been fairly easy. I walk .8 miles to work each day, and it's usually still dark, but I find something new each day, or see something and remind myself to get a picture of it later for another day. I usually take about 3-5 pictures a day and then choose the one I like best to post. And this is how it's been each day. The cool thing is that it forces me to look at things differently or ask myself how can I change this mundane object into something interesting? Of course, it doesn't always turn out how I've imagined it.
I really love looking at everyone else's photos and am disappointed if there aren't new one's posted. Everyone has such a distinct style.
At first I only wanted to post photos without any comments, names, or other information, but lately I've been finding stuff that I kind of want to explain, so I'll probably add a little text here and there.
And so those are my thoughts for today. This is fun.
